Synopsis

Men ruin women.

Especially men like Chase Davis. Good looking, intelligent, rich and powerful. I never stood a chance.

I didn’t want to want him.

I didn’t want to need him.

I didn’t want to fall for him.

He wouldn’t take no for an answer, and I let him consume me. Arrogant, confident, controlling, demanding … intense.

When he entered my life, I was finally healing after having barely survived the men of my past. My soul sisters told me to take a chance. To let someone in. I let him in, and he surrounded me with a light so bright I was blinded by the truth...

Men don’t ruin women. They devour them in every way that counts.

Warning This book is designed for audiences 18+ due to language, graphic sexual content, and themes that some may find disturbing.

Every time the lead male character did something controlling or possesive, I cringed. I didnt like how much he controlled her and how easily it was dismissed or overlooked. Especially because she's supposed to be a battered woman. Please rethink the way this has been written because it seems like its promoting male control over a female, especially a woman whom was already so completely under another mans control that she nearly died. Chase not giving her the optiom to choose even her own clothing for herself, go on a trip on her own, being possesive and aggressive and jealous and quick to get mad so often, plus her obvious fear of talking to him because of how hed react, makes this sound like she is in an abusive relationship. Youre romanticizing abuse and mental/emotional control over ones significant other. And as a woman who's been in a situation as that, i did not appreciate this recurring dismissal of the obviously unhealthy personality traits that Chase exhibits. Also, the Spanish words and fraces are not in the proper tense, and the way theyre used are not realistic. Nobody speaks like that in Spanish...that needs to seriously be proof read. Also, the way that Maria is portrayed as the slutty one as well as the random spanish chick that threw herself at Chase in that club, is downright degrading to Spanish women as a whole. The fact that the main attribute of the only two Latinas in this series is sexual, is stereotypical and disrespectful. This especially true because just below, I read a review saying that Maria sounds dumb because of how much spanish she speaks...that is completely offensive and such a baseless statement that it makes one realize just how much os at stake with ones portrayal of a character from a different ethnic or racial background.

White the writing itself is good, it's like so many others, with a young billionaire alpha male. His girlfriend is stalked and threatened, and we are left wondering who the stalker is and what happens next. Lots of sex. Sometimes it seemed out of place. Something that annoyed me was, Chase couldn't stand any male getting two close to his girlfriend, but there are at least 3 occasions where they are out together and someone from his past comes sidling up and clings to him intimately, while he just sits there and lets them. Gillian never really confronts him about this. Why would you let a man do that?
It was an honor to once again beta this book for Ms Carlan! As the ARC became available I did another read through and I caught myself getting lost in the story again! Being drawn into a world that an author creates and being able to feel the characters emotions and passions and anxieties… it’s a sign of a great story to me! This is the genre that I love – contemporary, romance, erotic, and a first for Audrey Carlan, a touch of suspense! The perfect combo in my opinion!

I love love love Gillian (Gigi) and her strength and her self-made family!! She had a hard road getting where she is today but I think suffering abuse from the hands of someone that she thought she loved and surviving it has made her into the person she is. I relate to her choosing the ones that she made her family even though they may not be blood. Surround yourself with the ones that will take care of you and let you take care of them! Her past made her want to resist Chase and their mutual instant attraction but lucky for her (and for us, the readers) Chase was relentless in his pursuit!

The words that Ms Carlan uses to create Chase have made him so vivid in my mind. The descriptives used for how he smells, sandalwood and citrus, to her nickname of Superman because of his control and take-charge ways, he lives in my and I have many bookmarked scenes that I can go back and visit anytime I need to. There is also a sweetness, almost a reverence, in the way he loves and protects Gillian that make my heart melt! But lets not forget that this is an erotic read, the heat is off the charts and when I read the erotic scenes between the 2… YOWZA!! Had me clenching and squirming in my seat!! There is no doubt that this is one HOT erotic novel but the story is stellar too with a touch of suspense that you can see will ramp up as book 2 and 3 of the Trinity Trilogy become available. And we will not have long to wait! Book 2, Mind, will be available in December.
